Hawa Koomson Fires Back At President Mahama; Says You Are A Serial Liar!

Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Constituency on the ticket of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Central Region, Hon. Hawa Koomson has fired a riposte at President John Dramani Mahama saying he fancies being branded with lies.

According to her, President Mahama is competing with the devil for the crown of the "Emperor of lies and deceit"; reiterating the President’s consistent lies even scares the devil himself, saying he is a "serial liar".

Hon. Hawa Koomson in a press statement chided that President Mahama has out of disrespect, once again lied to the chief and the people of Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Constituency when he visited their palace in his 'Changing Lives' tour in the Central region.

“His constant deceit of the people with lies as a means of an escape route for his incompetence when it comes to the execution of his responsibilities is mind-blowing…he lied to them that he is not able to execute most of his promised projects in Ghana with Awutu Senya East Constituency inclusive because, all that NPP and their MPs do is to do things that will help sabotage or impede or prevent any project he decides embarking on or has started with…”, she stated.

President Mahama in his ‘Changing Lives’ tour said the activities of some MPs including Hon. Hawa Koomson (MP for Awutu Senya East) are preventing a British company called Lonrho from building an Oil and Gas Free Port at Atuabo in the Western Region at a cost of $600 million dollars.

He again said that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has tried to impede the construction of the Kasoa Interchange with the excuse that the government is spending a lot of money on the interchange.

In setting the records straight, Hon. Hawa Koomson avers she is shocked that a whole President due to his hunger for votes has ‘intentionally’, ‘rudely’, ‘arrogantly’, shamefully and out of disrespect for the Presidential Seat, lied to the Chiefs and people of Kasoa.

Hon. Hawa Koomson explained that the five MPs have and will never be against the construction of Oil and Gas Free Port at Atuabo in the Western Region as President Mahama wants Ghanaians to believe.

She stressed the case instead has been dismissed by the court on the ground that despite the fact that the five MPs have a good case, the court has no power to overturn the decision of Parliament, an independent arm of government as it didn’t breach any constitutional law in arriving at its decision.

“The five MPs have only sought the court to push Lonrho to remove the Clause 7 in its agreement with Ghana government which prevents any individual or company from building another Oil and Gas Port in Western Region, including possible expansion of Oil and Gas facility at the Takoradi Port which is very much against the Section 5 of the Ghana Ports and Harbor Authority Act which says Ports in Ghana have the right to expand,”she narrated.

She insisted the move by the five MPs became necessary considering the fact that the government through Parliament has approved a loan of about 197 million Euros for Oil and Gas facility expansion of the Takoradi Port with about 400 million dollars more yet to be approved by Parliament for the same project.

Touching on the Kasoa Interchange, Hon. Hawa Koomson lashed out that President Mahama lied to the people of Kasoa; emphasizing that the NPP only sought for the budget review of the Kasoa Interchange as the opposition believe the project value had been over-bloated because since similar projects were implemented at far lower costs throughout the country.

She reiterated her profound gratitude to the people of Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Constituency for the love they have been showing her and NPP as they chose her as their MP; making it impossible to plot evil against Kasoa especially for such a huge project like the interchange coming their way.

“Aside its huge bloated cost for reasons best known to the NDC, the project commenced on a poorly managed tone also, all due to political expediencies. There was no public sensitization on the project; alternative routes are poorly put in place, utility lines have not been relocated and vehicle stations within the project area have not been relocated as well…the project in a way has started and has resulted in untold vehicular traffic with its attendant negative environmental and economic effects in Kasoa,” she pontificated.
