80% Votes For Mahama In B/A?....They Should Continuing Tickling Themselves - Obiri Boahen

The Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen has pooh poohed claims made by the Chief of Sunyani that President Mahama will win 80 percent of votes in the region in the 2016 elections.

Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri, ignoring the fact that chiefs are not supposed to engage in partisan politics, asked the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to expect 80 percent votes in the Brong Ahafo Region come 2016.

I was surprised that the people of the Eastern Region promised President Mahama 50 percent of the votes but I am promising that we will give the president 80 percent of the total votes in the region,” Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri said when addressing a gathering at Sunyani during President John Mahama’s visit.

Hours after his public declaration, a disappointed Nana Obiri Boahen said in an interview on Citi Eyewitness News that it is unfortunate a paramount chief has decided to meddle in partisan politics.

According to him, “NDC has never won in Sunyani and NDC can never win… (in the region). We should not be entertaining these kind of statement; just trying to play to the gallery; the bottom line is if President Mahama is going to win 80% so be it; if he is going to lose 80%, let’s wait and see. The battle will be fought and we will determine if President Mahama will win 80% or not; Let them continue tickling themselves…
