Ex-Assembly Member Threatens To Sue NDC Executives

MR S.K. Kwakye, a former assembly member for Akaasu Electoral Area in the Bibiani-Anwhwiaso-Bekwai District, has threatened to sue executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bibiani Constituency. This follows his accusation that the executives failed to use due process to recommend those who were supposed to be appointed as assembly members to the Bibiani-Anwhwiaso-Bekwai District Assembly. According to him, the constitution of the NDC clearly stipulates how members should manage the process of appointment, but he claims that was flouted upon. He accused the executives of abuse of power in the criteria used in the selection of government appointees. In reaction to his threat, the Deputy Communications Officer of the party in the constituency, Stephen Bennie, denied any wrong conduct and abuse of office and the party's constitution as being claimed by the former assembly member. Bennie, who is an executive of the party and one of the newly-appointed assembly members, said although the NDC leadership cannot stop the aggrieved member from exercising his constitutional right by going to court, clearly, his allegations are baseless and lack merit, he added. "We will meet S.K. at the law court. The leadership of the party is ready and willing to match S.K. boot for boot, he concluded.
