Koforidua Demo: We Were Not Overwhelmed By The Police - LMVCA

Convener of the group, Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA), David Asante has debunked claims that they were overwhelmed by the police during a demonstration in Koforidua, Eastern Region.

LMVCA and Movement for Joint Action (MJA), another pressure group, went on demonstration in Koforidua on Wednesday, 21st October, 2015 to demand for a new voters register.

Reports from the demonstration suggested that those who attended were only a handful despite the heavy security presence.

But speaking in an interview on PEACE FM morning show 'Kokrokoo', David Asante denied the fact that the protest had a low turnout.

"These reports are not true...a lot of people joined in the demonstration. Some of these reports are just to take away the reason for going on the demonstration. The most important thing is that we need a new voters register and that was why we joined MJA on the demonstration".
