Unwanted People Will Be Axed From NDC Register � Ofosu Ampofo

National Director of Elections and National Vice Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has stated that “unwanted people” will have their names wiped from the party’s voters register exhibition so as to have a credible and authentic register.

According to him, the exercise is aimed at building confidence in the party’s decision to expand its electoral college and make the process free, fair, open and transparent to every grassroots member.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo made this known during a press briefing after a three-day working visit in the Central region in a build-up to the November 7 parliamentary and presidential primaries of the NDC.

The vice-chairman, who was accompanied by the National Director of Communication, Mr. James Asante, disclosed that the party has registered 1,975,792 people nationwide to participate in the primaries.

“This is provisional because by the end of the exhibition we anticipate that we will do some inclusions and exclusions for us to get a final register for all our aspirants throughout the country,” he said.

He indicated that copies of the register will be given out to aspirants to assist the party in identifying real members of the party at the various constituency levels to enable them compile a credible register.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo noted that the election directorate will be very dispassionate in dealing with all cases that will come before them, adding that appellate bodies will also be set up at the constituencies for people who think their names have been deleted and omitted to go and address their grievances.

“We have also designed entry removal forms and record addition forms to deal with genuine cases of omissions and deletions to get people with genuine concerns unto the register,” he further added.

He, therefore, charged the parliamentary aspirants to get actively involved in the exhibition exercise which will come off this week to enable the party set the pace in compilation of the register.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo pointed out that 143,248 people have been captured in the register in the Central region with Mfantseman being the highest with 10,099 followed by Agona East with 9,102, Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa (AOB) with 8,251, Gomoa West with 8,058, Ekumfi 7,819 and Hemang Lower Denkyira with 7,486.

The rest he said are Cape Coast North with 7,142, Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) 7,051, Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) 5,813, Cape Coast South 5,781, Assin North 5,743, Upper Denkyira East 5,410, Gomoa East 5,158,  Assin Central 5,144, Awutu Senya West 5,105, Awutu Senya East 5,030, Agona West 4,924, Assin South 4,816, Effutu 4,677, Twifo Atti-Morkwa 4,528, Gomoa Central 4,407 and Upper Denkyira West 4,209.

He intimated that the NDC has made history with the initiative by giving voice to the people at the grass root level which will ginger the party to victory in the 2016 general elections.
