Dont Blame Anyone For Your Incompetence: Hawa Koomson Tells Mahama

Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East (Kasoa) Constituency on the ticket of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson has not taken it kindly at President Mahama’s accusation that NPP MPs are responsible for his inability to develop Kasoa.

President Mahama addressing a section of chiefs and the people of Kasoa announced that he has been unable to execute most of his promised projects in Ghana with Awutu Senya East Constituency inclusive because all that NPP and their MPs do is to do things that will sabotage, impede and prevent any project he decides embarking on or has started.

Citing the Kasoa interchange which falls under Hon. Hawa Koomson’s territory as an example of the sabotaged projects, President Mahama told the chiefs and the people that the NPP is opposing the construction of the Kasoa interchange saying the project fund is too much.

But Hon. Hawa Koomson in a sharp riposte to the President’s comment on Peacefmonline.com said she and her party NPP are rather grateful to the people of Awutu Senya East Constituency for making her their MP and so can never work against the progress of her constituents especially with such a huge project like the interchange.

She however explained that NPP sought for the budget review of the interchange because the budget was too high since similar projects were being built at far lower cost throughout the world.

“Aside its huge bloated cost for the reason best known to the NDC, the project commenced on a poorly managed tone due to political expedience”, she asserted.

Hon. Hawa Koomson addressing the saboteurs of Kasoa development, she mentioned that the actual saboteurs are President Mahama, his team of ministers and the Municipal Chief Executive of Kasoa as they have consistently and continuously obstructed her effort to further bring development to her constituents.

Mentioning some of the sabotages which the President and his team have carried out against her constituency, Hon. Hawa Koomson said every effort of her to extend pipe borne water to areas like Amuzukope, Adam Nana Bigman town and Congo Villa in her constituency has met stiff opposition from Mahama led administration.

In emphasis, she recounted that the then Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Hon. Alhaji Collins Dauda told her plainly that his government cannot include her request for water extension project in the budget and true to his words, the project in fact wasn’t included in the then budget and again not in the budget of the current Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Hon. Dr. Kwaku Agyeman Mensah.

She bemoaned that her quest to push for the boundary between the Awutu Senya East Municipality and Ga South District Assembly to be well demarcated has fell on deaf ears of President Mahama to deal with the peace threatening situation.

Demonstrating that she is not against Kasoa development, Hon. Hawa Koomson has mentioned that she is responsible for the building of CHIP Compound (Community Health Centre) at Odupong Ofankor serving the residents who used to travel miles to access nearest health centre.

Other achievements Hon. Hawa Koomson mentioned includes the provision of Ambulance for Kasoa Polyclinic as people with emergency situation were transported to referral hospitals in trucks and taxis; resulting in lost of lives sometimes before reaching the referred hospitals.

She again mentioned being responsible for the supply of computers and laptops to government Junior High Schools in Kasoa and still counting as well as dual school desk, refurbishment of the Municipal Education Directorate and given footballs and jerseys to about 50 youth teams in Kasoa.

She insisted she cannot sabotage the development of Kasoa after distributing over 500 streetlights in Kasoa, power generation plant for Awutu Camp prisons, building of M/A Primary School at Iron City, Kasoa in addition to an ICT Laboratory.

She therefore chided saying “I cannot be responsible for your incompetence; I am not responsible for non-performance in Kasoa. The excuses for his inability to develop Kasoa are perky”.
