NPP Fights For NDC Man

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has waded into the seeming tension within the North Tongu Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to defend one of the aspirants, Christopher Kofi Eleblu.

Director of Communications of the NPP, Nana Akomea took the incumbent Member of Parliament of the area, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to the cleaners and accused him of masterminding the efforts by some executives of the constituency to disqualify the popular aspirant in the constituency.

Mr. Akomea accused Mr. Ablakwa, who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Education and his cohorts, of using fictitious means to oust Mr. Eleblu from contesting the NDC parliamentary primary on Saturday November 7, 2015.

Speaking on Metro TV, the NPP Communications Director described as a worrying development the moves to disqualify Mr. Eleblu and added that it would not augur well for the party if they forcefully push him out.

He further advised the deputy Minister to stop the habit of plotting to disqualify Mr. Eleblu and rather allow competition to prevail in the NDC parliamentary primary in the area.

In a related development, some loyalists of Mr. Eleblu and gurus of the NDC in the area are threatening a court action to put an embargo on the impending parliamentary primary.

At a press conference at Battor yesterday, loyalists of Mr. Eleblu, who was wrongly accused in an alleged fraud case during his time as Director of Internal Audit at the Ministry of Health have hit back at their man’s accusers.

The supporters, elders and foot soldiers of the NDC in the area who threatened to cause mayhem in North Tongu if the NDC dare disqualify Mr. Eleblu from the race, pointed out that the allegations leveled against Mr. Eleblu are plots being orchestrated by his political opponents to scuttle his ambition.

They stated that there was a grand plot by the party’s leadership at the constituency and regional levels to capitalize on the frivolous fraud allegation against Mr. Eleblu to disqualify him from the race.

Mr. Ablakwa has earlier on denied the allegations leveled against him and described them as unfounded and baseless, saying that it was a calculated attempt by Mr. Eleblu and his cohorts to tarnish his hard won reputation.
