NDC Group Calls For Calm Ahead Of Primary Poll

A youth group of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, has appealed for calm and responsible conduct by every member of the party ahead of its November 07 parliamentary primary poll.

The “Movement for Operation One Million Votes (MOON)” said it was important for all the aspiring parliamentary candidates to recognize that they were into an internal contest and avoid doing anything that could come to haunt the party later.

“It is a family contest and no matter what happens after the election, we have to live and work together as a family.”

This was contained in a press statement issued by the group and signed by its Deputy General Secretary, Franklin A. Abugri, in Kumasi.

It urged clean and healthy campaign by the contestants and their supporters, to help stave off needless tension and prevent cracks in the party.

The group also called on both the regional and constituency officers to ensure fairness and an even playing field.

The statement acknowledged that there would be challenges and that the party officers were bound to encounter tough situations but said the expectation was that they would be firm and evenhanded.

That, it noted, was the way to make the parliamentary primary poll peaceful and successful.
