'I Didnt Introduce Match Agent To The GFA'

Sports Minister Dr. Mustapha Ahmed has denied introducing the match agent who organized Ghana’s international friendly with Canada earlier this month to the Ghana FA.

GFA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie Daara had earlier revealed the friendly match played in Washington was organized as an initiative of the Sports Ministry.

Sports Minister Dr. Mustapha Ahmed, according to the GFA, introduced the match agent for onwards negotiations leading to a subsequent agreement to the terms under which the friendly match was played.

Deputy Sports Minister Vincent Oppong Asamoah had claimed they were officially unaware of the friendly but a letter sufficing on social media moments later proved otherwise.

Dr. Mustapha Ahmed in a shocking twist of events now insists he never introduced the match agent to the GFA, showing clearly the widening rift between the Sports Ministry and the Ghana FA.

“I introduced which match agent?” the Minister quizzed.

“It’s just speculation. I don’t know the contract or the details in the contract.

“I didn’t introduce anybody to the GFA.”

Relations between the Ghana FA and the Sports Ministry appear to be getting worse since Ghana’s disastrous campaign at the 2014 World Cup.

The first sign of the emerging cracks between the two bodies sufficed with an interview with the Deputy Sports Minister of attempts to slash the bonuses of the team prior to their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

Then came the standoff between the national women’s team, the Black Queens and the Sports Ministry over the non-payment of their accumulated bonus with the latest being the confusion surrounding Ghana’s recent friendly match with Canada.
