<<Print>>Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has urged Ghanaians to disregard comments by the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho since according to him the NDC deputy scribe hardly makes sense with his comments.
The veteran journalist, reacting to a claim by Koku Anyidoho that he (Kweku Baako) and host of Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show, Kwami Sefa Kayi were made millionaires by former President John Agyekum Kufour, said the NDc official was not worth paying attention to as he does not know what he is saying.
The NDC Deputy scribe, speaking on Kasapa FM took the two journalists to the cleaners for criticizing chiefs who showered praises on President John Mahama during his tour of Ghana to seek endorsement of his bid to lead the NDC once more.
“These two men were given state awards and decorated with gold chains by the Kufour regime. Their accounts were hugely bloated during this period…,” Koku said on the station while reacting to criticisms of him and chiefs who endorsed President Mahama by Kweku Baako on Accra-based Peace FM.
Kweku Baako on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Programme on Wednesday, 22nd October, 2015 opined that the chiefs always endorsed political figures and hence he was not surprised by the comments of the two Brong Ahafo chiefs about the President.
Kweku on the programme also chastised Koku Anyidoho for claiming that he has intelligence to the effect that three top NPP members are planning against Ewes and Northerners in the Ashanti region.
Koku had earlier alleged that NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, former Asokwa MP, Maxwell Kofi Jumah and Ashanti Regional chairman of the party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, were hatching a plan to prevent Ewes and Northerners from registering if the EC calls for a new voters register.
“I know why the NPP is fighting to have the voters registered changed…their aim is to just get the EC say we are going to do a new one so that they can implement their plan of preventing Ewes and Northerners in the Ashanti region from registering… I have intelligence that these people are planning this evil agenda hence pushing for a change of the voters register…”, he alleged on Adom FM on Tuesday, 20th October, 2015.
But this tribal comment, Kweku said, are unhealthy for peace and unity among tribes in this country.
“Where is this ethnocentric thing coming from…those who talk that way are rather the persons accusing others as being ethnocentric or tribalism…they are fanning the flame of ethnocentrism…,” he said.
He added that Koku Anyidoho was playing a ‘dangerous game’ and challenged him to make the intelligence available to the security services.
These criticisms did not go down well with the press secretary to late President John Atta Mills and he took to the Accra-based radio station to call the bluff of the two journalists accusing them of benefiting hugely from the Kufour administration.
“These two men were given state awards and decorated with gold chains by the Kufour regime. Their accounts were hugely bloated during this period. If President Kufour had done anything good for the towns where these chiefs rule, they wouldn’t have been appreciating President Mahama for doing all these projects since it would have been there already. If they (Kwaku and Kwami) continue to shower praises on President Kufour, then they have no business criticizing the chiefs,” he said.
Kweku Baako did not take kindly to this accusation from the ‘The Bull’ when the comment was brought to his attention by a friend of his on facebook, Frank Mandela Bawumia.
“It is therapeutic not to give such types of political buffonery any dignity or mileage with serious comments! Isn't it good for our mental health to ignore such ugly noises from political windbags or intellectual midgets? Just wondering! Good morning Ghana!,” he posted.
The Urban dictionary describes a ‘Windbag’ as " a pompous person who talks too much, a braggart".
