The Tarkwa Central Market has recorded high foodstuff prices for over a period.

A survey conducted by the Ghana News Agency at the weekend indicated that foodstuff such as onion, yam, green pepper and carrot have increased in price while plantain, cassava, okro, tomatoes, pepper, garden eggs, cabbage, cocoyam and plantain have maintained their value.

A big sack of green pepper which was going for GH¢240.00 is now GH¢305.00 and a big sack of onion is also sells GH¢530.00.

Hundred pieces of yam depending on the size is sold from GH¢700.00 to GH¢1,000.00 instead of GH¢640.00.
Other items such as a big sack of carrot which was going for GH¢210.00 is now GH¢260.00

A bunch of plantain (Apim medium size) is going for GH¢85.00 and GH¢60.00 while (apantu) is sold between GH¢50.00 and GH¢60.00.

A medium sack of cocoyam and cassava are sold for GH¢350.00 and GH¢75.00 and a medium basket of okro is sold for GH¢100.00 and GH¢140.00.

A big sack of garden eggs and pepper are sold for GH¢210.00 and GH¢110.00 while a big sack of cabbage is GH¢310 and a big size of tomatoes box is going for GH¢1,000.00.

Madam Abena Ampomaa, a trader said the increasing cost of products has affected daily sales drastically.
She said the price hikes could sales during the Christmas season.
