Kweku Baako Dares Afoko...

Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Kwaku Baako Jnr has dared the embattled National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party to put his leadership to test if he is still the leader of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition.

The NPP last Friday, October 23, 2015, indefinitely suspended Mr. Afoko on grounds of misconduct when the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party unanimously adopted a recommendation of the National Disciplinary Committee for such a directive.

Mr. Afoko has since been fighting back urging the public to dispel the decision of the NEC since their action was an affront to the party’s constitution.

In a counter statement to the decision of the National Executive Committee which was chaired by Mr. Freddie Blay, Spokesperson for the embattled leader, Nana Yaw Osei said the decision is not binding on Mr. Afoko.

“We want to state in unequivocal terms that the improperly constituted National Disciplinary Committee cannot recommend any indefinite suspension of Mr. Afoko to the National Executive Committee whose chairman did not call the meeting that purportedly endorsed the so-called decision of the national disciplinary committee.”

“We insist that an improperly called meeting of the NEC cannot legally deliberate on any matter for it to have proper effect of binding on Mr. Afoko as the national chair,” he noted.

But Mr. Baako Jnr speaking on Newsfile on Saturday dared Mr. Afoko to test his leadership if indeed he is still in charge of NPP as its National Chair.

“I would have opted for Mr. Afoko to test this suspension decision via the appeal process (National Council). But if he says he is still in charge …I would want him to test his being in charge by seeking to try to convene a meeting of the steering committee, National Executive Committee meeting and National Council meeting and see if those meetings will come up. This is the best way to test whether the King is indeed naked or not.”
