Afokos 'Sins' Enough To Write A Book

An elder of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Sulemana Yirimia has revealed that charges he preferred against the suspended Chairman of the party, Paul Afoko are enough to fill the pages of a whole book.

Alhaji Yirimia speaking on Asempa FM Monday said, despite the numerous complains he has against the Chairman, he chose to forward only a few in a four page petition to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party.

He indicated that embattled National Chairman showed gross disrespect when he [Afoko] did not honour an invitation by elders of the party in the Northern region.

"If I were to write all his conducts which have brought the name of the party into disrepute, it will be enough to write a book...," he stated.

The petitioners, Alhaji Yirimea and Alhaji Mohammed Aminu Amadu filed separate petitions listing a combined total of 13 complaints against the NPP Chairman now on suspension.

The complaints include the controversial decision of Paul Afoko to launch a membership registration and fundraising exercise although NEC was yet to agree on the project.

The petitioner says the move by Afoko “led to a lot of bad press, confusion and bad blood”.

Justifying his actions, Alhaji Yirimea said the National Chairman is paying for his evil deeds against the NPP.

He blamed Paul Afoko for the violence that always characterized National Executive meetings at the National headquarters in Accra.

“We don’t hate Afoko but his attitude and leadership style is what is catching up with him,” he added.
