Obiri-Boahen Goes Gaga Good Riddance; We've Had Enough Of Their Nonsense...We'll Even Sideline Nana Addo If!

For those scheming behind groups and factions to heighten tension within the NPP and derail the chances of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to become Ghana's next president, a National Executive Committee (NEC) member of the opposition party has this to say – “No weapon against Nana Addo shall prosper in Jesus name.

The NPP’s Deputy General Secretary, Nana Obiri Boahen, in a show of belligerent anger during a live radio interview with Kwasi Aboagye, host of NEAT FM’s morning show dubbed 'Ghana Montie, questioned why some NPP leading members are being so “wicked” and hell-bent on seeing Nana Addo taste defeat in the 2016 general elections.

“God will punish all those wishing NPP to collapse and those wishing Nana Addo evil,” he fumed.

Nana Obiri Boahen’s anger stems from a writ said to have been filed by three supporters - the applicants being Tweneboa Kodua Emmanuel, Stephen Owusu and Joseph Oppong - of the suspended chairman Paul Afoko against 30 senior members of the NPP, seeking to restrain the party from holding [Freddie Blay] out as acting chairman of the party, and convening meetings without Mr Afoko being the convener of the meetings.

Lawyers for Afoko, who are praying the court to restrain the defendants from taking decisions in any meeting not convened by Chairman Afoko, until this dispute is finally determined, and are also requesting jail terms for the top executives of the NPP who convened a steering committee meeting days after Mr Afoko was suspended.

On Tuesday, during a scheduled NPP Steering Committee meeting at the party’s headquarters, General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong, had the backscreen of his official vehicle smashed by an unknown mob when he tried to recuse himself out citing his receipt of the writ filed in court, saying he does not want to be caught up in a possible contempt of court case.

Some party gurus have condemned the attack, a spill-over from last Friday's near-bloodbath, which some have blamed on the leadership of Nana Addo.

Himself an astute lawyer, Nana Obiri Boahene described the writ as a sham, a communist inferior tactics to stop the NPP from focusing. He asserted that the NPP will not countenance such “nonsense” from any party member again.

"Some of us are not prepared to indulge in legal semantics. I overheard him [Afoko's lawyer] say he was going to cite some people for contempt. Let him go ahead and file the application. I will respond appropriately.

"...This communist inferior tactics they are practicing. We will tell them it is good riddance for them...We are not joking. We are serious......I think enough is enough. NPP is prepared to go all out and defend the party.

"We are tired of them. Those who are in bed with elements of the ruling government and they will go all out to scuttle attempts of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo....We know them and at the appropriate time we will deal with them,

"We are prepared to meet them squarely. In court, out of court, we are ready for them...Such nonsense must stop. Those mafias can leave the party. No one will force them. We need to reshape the party. NPP is not for an individual. Even if Nana Addo goes wrong, we will sideline him. This is what we are going to do and we are very determined and we will do just that,” he told host Kwasi Aboagye.
