Demons Responsible For NPP Problems

A senior political science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr. Evans Aggrey Darko has blamed the bickering in the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) on demons and ‘book long’ among party members and leadership.

According to him, the conduct of some party members is nothing short of demonic.

“Some NPP members are lately behaving like demons within the party,” he said.

“’Book long’ among members of the NPP is too much,”Dr. Evans Aggrey Darko told host of Adom FM’s “Burning Issues” programme with Afia Pokua.

The NPP last Friday, suspended its National Chairman, Paul Afoko, indefinitely.

The party in a statement cited him for gross disrespect for party structures among over 13 other allegations.

According to Chairman of the NPP Council of Elders, C.K. Tedam, Mr Afoko is “arrogant” and shows the “fathers and mothers” of the party no respect.

The indefinite suspension of the party’s Chairman and a recent attack on party’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong by Invisible Forces at the NPP headquarters has deepened cracks within the party.

Dr. Aggrey Darko said despite the challenges facing the NPP, the party needs a strategist to advise key party functionaries about the future and unity of the party.

He added that the party leadership must sit up and ensure the party’s unity.

A founder member of the party, George Ayisi Boateng said despite the current confusion in the NPP, the party is solid and poised to win elections in 2016.

He added that the party must look for proper ways of handling internal matters.

Ayisi Boateng urged the party leadership and members to respect each other.
