Court Frees Bishop Obinim In Hot FM Case

The Head Pastor of the International Godsway Ministries, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has been acquitted and discharged by an Accra High Court for allegedly assaulting a radio panelist at Hot FM, an Accra-based radio station in 2011.

According to the ruling by presiding judge Justice Abdulai Iddrisu, the prosecution failed to provide credible evidence to back the charges against the accused, as the witnesses contradicted themselves in court.

The judge further stated that the prosecution failed to call relevant witnesses who could have given more credible evidence in the case.

Bishop Obinim and his accomplices, who were offended by a discussion where he was accused of allegedly having sex with the wife of Pastor Williams Fobi, a junior pastor of his church, was accused of going to the Adabraka-based radio station with a crowbar and sticks to damage their property.

According to the prosecution, they attacked the staff and vandalized studio equipment, and inflicted injuries on the host and other panelists including Rev. William Amoako-Atta.

Shadrach Adu, a victim who managed to escape, reported the issue to the Adabraka Police, after which the accused persons were arrested.
