The attention of the Vice-President�s office has been drawn to a purported e-mail address registered in the name of His Excellency the Vice-President, John Dramani Mahama on the social website �FACEBOOK�. The office of the Vice-President wishes to state categorically that H.E Mr. Mahama is not a registered member on FACEBOOK and for that matter on any other social website. We would wish to strongly advice such persons to desist from engaging in such criminal activities. A press statement issued in Accra today and signed by John Abdulai Jinapor Spokesperson to H.E. the Vice-President said �these are clearly activities of unscrupulous people illegally using images of the Vice-President designed to defraud unsuspecting web users.� �We will also want to reiterate that the Office of the Vice-President is aware of the activities of some impersonators who are using the name and offices of the vice-president to defraud innocent Ghanaians by stating that they work in the offices of the Vice-President,� the statement said. In an interview with PEACEFM NEWS, Mr. Abdulai Jinapor, intimated that they are monitoring those offenders and assured the general public that the needed steps are being taken to nip the activities of those saboteurs in the bud. He advised Internet users and members of the general public to cross check with the office when dealing with such suspicious people and not allow themselves to fall into their trap. �The office wishes to appeal to all those who might have fallen prey to any impersonator report such perpetrators to the office of the Vice-President for appropriate actions to be taken. The law enforcement agencies have also been duly informed about these incidences and are therefore working frantically to apprehend those behind these activities,� he added.
