Abedi Pele Not Interested In GFA Presidency

Former Ghana international Abedi Pele has reiterated that he has no intentions of contesting the Ghana Football Associations Presidency. Many have called on the former African footballer of the year award winner to consider taking up the FA Presidency in 2019. Incumbent Kwesi Nyantakyi is reported to be considering a move to contest the CAF presidency which would make him ineligible to head the Ghana football Association should he be elected as the new CAF President. Pele who once contested the seat and lost to Ben Kwofie in 2001 has been tipped to be a perfect successor to Kwesi Nyantakyi. The ex-Black Stars captain in an interview with Accra-based Starr FM says he has no intention of taking up the top post. Not at all, its something that when you are young. You have certain dreams but as you grow and achieve other things in your life, you realize that its not your field at all. Its far from you and where you are the best, you have to stay at that angle and keep excelling and that is what I am doing. Abedi Pele was a member of Ghanas 1982 Cup of Nations winning squad in Libya and also captained the team to the 1992 Cup of Nations finals in Senegal.
