Sacking CHRAJ Boss Is An Indication That The Law Still Works - Vitus Azeem

Sacking CHRAJ Boss is an indication that the law still works in the country and that we are living by rule of law. We have gone through the whole process as provided by the constitution - an anti-corruption campaigner Vitus Azeem said after CHRAJ boss, Lauretta Lamptey was sacked by the President.

President John Mahama on Wednesday evening removed from office the embattled boss of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, Lauretta Lamptey- after accepting the recommendations of a Committee set up by the Chief Justice and in accordance with Article 146(9).

The committees work was informed by a petition submitted to the Chief Justice subsequently the committee concluded that Madam Lamptey was unfit to hold the position of Commissioner.

In January 2015, Lamptey was suspended by President John Mahama following the establishment of a prima facie case against her. A 5-member committee was set up to investigate complaints made against her.

This was after one Richard Nyamah, and Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyir Anoh Dompreh petitioned the President to initiate processes to remove her for spending about $180,000 on rent Madam Lauretta Lamptey was alleged to have spent about GHC182, 000 to renovate her official residence.

Discussing the matter on NEAT FMs morning show 'Ghana Montie', Mr. Azeem noted that he personally has nothing against the commissioner but I wanted the right thing done and that has gone according to the provision of the constitution
