Korea Ambassador Lyeo Woon-Ki Tips Ghana For Gold In Taekwando

Ghana taekwondo has never won a gold medal at the senior level competitions not to talk of the Olympics.

The country have benefited a lot from taekwondo with silver medal at various competitions such as the Youth Olympics, the World Championships, and All African Games etc.

Usually, the country selects it best taekwondo players from locally organized competition such as the Ghana Open and Korea Open which is the highest taekwondo competitions organized by the Korean Embassy with the help of the Ghana Taekwondo Federation.

This year’s Korea Open Championship is scheduled for this month as the Korea Embassy is prepared to organize and bear all cost with medal presentation to deserving taekwondo players.

In an exclusive interview with Ghana sports, the Korean Ambassador has revealed that, Korea is prepared to help Ghana develop the taekwondo talent and improve the game in the country.

According to him, the Embassy of Korea is impressed with the development of the game under the current leadership of the taekwondo.

Under Francis Otoo’s administration, taekwondo sports has improved tremendously and that Ghana have equally good practicers that can win a Gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games. This according to the the Korean Ambassador to Ghana Lyeo Woon-Ki.

Taekwondo is a martial art that in “todays” form of self-defense has evolved by combing many different styles of martial arts that existed in Korea over the last 2,000 years and some martial arts styles from countries that surround Korea.

Korea ambassador has recommended taekwondo to every Ghanaian as its’ a full physical excise that improves ones health. Ghana won a silver and bronze medals at the Congo Brazzaville games.
