Bashiru Hayford Determined To Strengthen Squad For Africa

Best coach of the just ended First Capital Plus Premier League, Bashiru Hayford, has stated his club will strengthen his side as they plan to make an impact in the CAFchampions league.

Bashiru is of the belief that some players of the club will leave for new ones to join since majority of his squad’s contract have expired.

"Definitely, some players will go others will come and since we’ll be preparing for the CAF champions league, we need some players to join as we intend to strengthen the current squad...there will by-all means be elimination and substitutions at the club,” he said.

“Some players will go depending on the positions at the club. Players will not just be coming for coming seek, you’re coming to replace somebody in key positions of the club and that you ought to be good.”

According to Bashiru Hayford, any player who is coming to AshantiGold must perform to the highest standard the club is seeking for in Africa.

“Africa is not an easy one and my team must be strong for the challenge ahead,” Bashiru reiterated.

“Every player whose contract have ended with the club is definitely a free player and even if I beg a player to stay or go, its’ actually not my concern at the moment since that player is free to move or stay.”

Comparatively, Bashiru Hayford is looking for players at key positions at a given time.

“I am looking out for players in positions I need to beef up, last season, seven players left after their contract expired but AshantiGold won the league.

“If management of the club are able to renew a player's contract so be it,” he added.

Bashiru Hayford was crowned the best coach of the season at the PLB Awards ceremony after winning the league with AshantiGold for the 2014/15 premier league season.
