We Are Disappointed To Miss CHAN Tourney - Sanie Daara

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Mr. Ibrahim Sanie Daara has stated that, his outfit was disappointed the local Black Stars failed to make a fourth appearance at the 2016 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) tourney.

Maxwell Konadu’s charges lost 0-1 in the second leg to Ivory Coast to post a 2-2 goal aggregate, where neighbors Ivory Coast sailed through with an away rule advantage.

Ghana will miss the fourth tourney scheduled for Rwanda next year, after they emerged second in the last edition staged in South Africa.

Mr. Sanie Daara said, they wanted to qualify for the event and make a huge statement following assertions that the local league is not at its peak.

He said ‘‘we are terribly disappointed. It’s very hard to take, because we wanted to use the CHAN to make a huge statement on the local league and we wanted to make it the fourth successive time but it didn’t happen. We didn’t expect to lose. We expected to qualify but it did not go well’’.

According to him, the GFA technical team and the local Black Stars technical body will meet to re-examine the quality of players in the team and determine the real factor which denied Ghana qualification.

The Communication Director rendered an apology to supporters for the failure.
