Minister Threatens Whistle Blower

Stunned and exasperated by the investigative capabilities of a whistle blower, Eric Asubonteng which led to the arrest of a suspected murderer in his bedroom, the Deputy Brong Ahafo Minister, Eric Opoku, last Monday after the story broke, called Eric Asubonteng on his cell phone and allegedly threatened that he will deal with him. he called me around 1.30 am and said he will deal with me for exposing the boy for arrest, Eric Asubonteng told newsmen yesterday on his phone at his hide-out. Ture to his words perhaps, according to Eric, three gentlemen, Akwasi Kotodwe, Saila and Alqueda, believed to be the deputy ministers boys met his mother, Akosombo Nyantakyi on her way to throw rubbish away at Sankore and berated that anytime we meet you son, we will kill him; tell him not to come to Sankore if he knew what is good for him. According to the man whole to led the arrest of the suspect, his mother nearly threw a fight at them but for the intervention of a passer-by. Police source in Sunyani have told newsmen that Akwasi Adu was remanded to a 2-week sentence but the deputy minister has allegedly declared that so long as he remains the second-in-command for the area, he would ensure that the suspected murder walks a free man. Oh its an open secret in the whole of Sankore that the minister says he will make sure Akwasi walks a free man after his two weeks remand term and because of his position, we are tempted to believe him, a source who pleaded anonymity to The Crusading Guide. Kofi Nyame (not his real name) confided in the Crusading Guide that the deputy minister was allegedly maneuvering to make sure that Akwasi Adu be set free. Tongues are however wagging as to why a minister whose room was nabbed a suspected murderer should still remain at post when all indications pointed that he knew the suspect. It was gathered from Sankore that the tension is gradually mounting in the area following threats from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) goons that they would attack the New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters if their man was not released. Meanwhile, checks have revealed that the other three suspects are still on the run including Kwadwo Noah, the suspect Eric Opoku confirmed he pays school fees for. Attempts to establish contact with the deputy minister for a reaction to the allegation have hit on a snag as calls made to his cell phone were not answered.
