NLP Is Not Birth From The NPPWe Dont Know Where It's Coming From Nana Akomea

A new political party named “New Labour Party” (NLP) which is alleged to have emerged from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been rubbished by the party's Communication Director, Nana Akomea.

He was emphatic on Kasapa FM that – the NPP has no knowledge of any party being formed by acclaimed aggrieved members.

Peacefmonline.com first broke the news about the new NLP which is yet to be outdoor by some NPP gurus purported to be Ex-President Kufour's allies.

Their reason is to disassociate themselves from the recent happenings in the NPP leading to the suspension of National Chairman, Mr. Paul Afoko.

A member of the yet-to-be-registered party, Listowell Nana Kusi-Poku claimed that - “Former Ministers, Deputy Ministers, MMDCEs, CEOs of institutions in the Kufour regime are founding members of the NLP” – adding that – “Former President Kufour is yet to give his blessings to the party. He don’t support us for now.”

Even though he failed to name individuals behind the creation of the party – Listowell confirmed to Peacefmonline.com that he has been appointed as the interim General Secretary of NLP and has already presented to the Electoral Commission [EC] documents to start the registration procedure.

However, Nana Akomea has maintained that “NLP is not from NPP”. He claims that – “We [NPP] don’t know where the NLP is coming from.”

“Our political system for now kind of allows for only two dominant parties. That is why out of 275 parliamentary seats, the NDC and NPP occupy about 272 or so. It is important that those behind this said party draw lessons from the Reform party which broke away from the NDC and the UGM which went out of the NPP, but eventually turned out to be parties with little influence in Ghana’s political space,” he added.
