Buhari Names Himself Minister Of Petroleum

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has named himself Petroleum Minister, he also appointed Ibe Kachikwu of Delta State as the Minister of State for Petroleum.

The widely expected move by the president is on the back of his resolve to sanitize and make profitable Nigeria's Petroleum industry which has been bedeviled by massive mismanagement and corruption.

Buhari also put a UK schooled economist Kemi Adeosun with the tough portfolio of managing the all-important finance ministry. She would be tasked with running Africa's largest economy.

Retired army general Mansur Dan Ali was handed the Minister of Defence portofolio, and his main job will be to lead the fight against militant Islamist group Boko Haram.

A former governor of Lagos Babatunde Fashola is appointed to lead the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, so the job of ending Nigeria's electricity crisis is his responsibility.

Veteran politician and farmer Audu Ogbe is the Minister of Agriculture.

Nigeria has a vast tracts of land which, if used properly, could create jobs for the country's army of unemployed youths and reduce its dependence on oil, analysts say.

While, a former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi has been handed the Ministry of Transportation portfolio.
