South Africa 2010 fan-zone launched

The official launch of the South Africa 2010 World Cup fan-zone was held on Friday at the Media Centre of the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium In Accra. The project, an initiative of Katamadara Concepts in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Council (NSC) will give football fans the opportunity to watch the 2010 World Cup matches on giant screens across the country. Kwame Addo, Chief Executive Officer of Katamadara Concepts said the innovative project is targeted at football fans who might not be able to travel to South Africa for the first ever Mundial to be staged on the African soil. He explained that four 24-metre giant screens will be placed at the four stadia in Accra, Kumasi, Sekondi and Tamale to be accessed by fans amidst funfair. Justin Feber, Chief Executive Officer of Mine Media, partners of the project said the development will give fans back home to have a feel of what will be happening in South Africa during the World Cup. He said he was optimistic of the success of the project that has been replicated from the Germany 2006 World Cup and the 2008 European champions, co-hosted by Switzerland and Austria. Nii Nortey Dua, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports assured of his outfit�s support towards the innovative development.
