Martin Amidu Sees Anas As A Rival In The Fight Against Corruption - Amaliba

In the opinion of the ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, the comment of the Citizen Vigilante, Martin Amidu on the scandal which has hit the judiciary is diversionary.

But in the assessment of private legal practitioner and member of the NDC legal team for the 2012 election petition, Lawyer Abraham Amaliba, the constant attacks on Anas’ work on the judiciary by Martin Amidu should be seen as rivalry sentiment.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Abraham Amaliba who is an aspiring Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency reiterated that “Martin Amidu sees Anas as a rival in the fight against corruption”.

He explained that the attacks on Anas simply means to subject the ace investigative journalist to public ridicule as the one-man vigilante considers the exposé in the judiciary as something which will out-shine him in his anti-corruption crusade.

To him, he is surprised Martin Amidu has turned his arsenals on Anas Aremeyaw Anas who is also helping in the fight against corruption; asserting that Amidu wants to be seen as the sole anti-corruption crusader. He however urged Martin Amidu to rather use his legal prowess to help Anas in the fight against corruption.

Touching on the call for Anas to remove his hood before the cross-examination in court, Abraham Amaliba insisted that Anas will be exposed to danger if he is forced to remove his cover; averring that “we are not in normal times".

He professed that Ghana has only one type of Anas to help expose corruption in the country; making him an endangered person; proclaiming that nobody including Martin Amidu can do the work of Anas, thus Ghana cannot afford to lose him (Anas).

Mr Amaliba dismissed suggestions the ace investigative journalist has finally revealed his identity to the BBC, saying Anas wore a mask and the image making rounds in the media is not his real identity.
