Teshie Robbery Gang Grabbed

The Accra Regional Police Command has apprehended two suspected armed robbers who are believed to be part of a gang that terrorized residents of the area.

The suspects are Ernest Atani aka Dzibordi, 25, and Roland Darkeh, 22.

They were said to have taken part in about 16 robbery operations at Teshie together with Ababire Macdey aka Obuabi and Sowa Simon, 22, arrested last month and currently serving a 70-year jail term at the Nsawam Medium Prisons.

Items stolen by the suspects included mobile phones, flat-screen television sets, wedding rings, ATM cards, cameras and an unspecified amount of money.

Suspects, upon their arrest, told the police that out of the 16 operations that they embarked upon, only four were not successful.

They said raped some of the victims, including a pregnant woman, in the course of their operations.

The two are now in custody assisting police in investigations.

Briefing the media, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Accra Regional Police Commander, said the two suspects, together with other accomplices presently in jail embarked on various robbery operations at Teshie Nungua and its environs.

The four attacked victims living at Teshie Rasta, Tsuibleo, Okpoigonno, GREDA Estates, Fertilizer, Agblezaa and other areas.

The lethal suspects were placed on police wanted list.

After the arrest of Simon and Macdey last month, the police continued to pursue the rest and busted Dzigbordi and Roland.

The suspects would soon be arraigned before court after investigations.
