Others Have Been Suspended Before So Why Cant Afoko Shut Up, Who Is He? Amoako Baah Asks

Head of the Department of History and Political Science of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Dr Richard Amoako Baah has called on beleaguered NPP National Chairman, Paul Afoko to desist from his ‘unnecessary’ press conferences.

He advised that – if truly Paul Afoko wants the opposition New Patriotic Party to regain power in the 2016 election, then he must keep mute and serve his suspension diligently.

Paul Awentami Afoko on Wednesday described his indefinite suspension as National Chairman by the party's National Council as a threat to the fortunes of the party in the 2016 elections.

Speaking for the first time since his suspension by the National Council, Mr. Afoko criticized the decisions taken leading to his indefinite suspension.

Addressing a news conference in Accra, Paul Afoko accused the National Council of bias in the decision to suspend him indefinitely – he said the National Council of the party, which affirmed the decision of the National Executive Committee is in “clear breach of the rules of natural justice.”

The decision is arbitrary and unlawful and constitutes a substantial threat to our vision and a threat to our freedom of expression and association and danger to our party’s values. It’s illogical to suspend officers who are supposed to work and win elections. Such attitude constitutes an attack on the party’s fortunes,” Afoko said.

But speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show dubbed Ghana Montie, Dr. Amoako Baah described Afoko’s press conference as “unfortunate” and questioned why the suspended chairman is behaving like a “rebel”.

Why is Afoko behaving as the NPP will collapse without him? He is thinking about himself not the party. If Afoko fear the NPP will taste opposition in the next election, then he should shut up!” he maintained.

Others have been suspended in the party before so why can’t Afoko shut up for once. Who is he? Dr. Baah quizzed.
