Angola Embassy To Host �Queen Of Angola� Film Screening

The Angola Embassy will on November 20, 2015, organize a cocktail and movie screening to commemorate its 40th National Independence Celebration at the National Theatre in Accra.

The movie, titled ‘Queen of Angola’ and also known as ‘Njinga, Rainha de Angola’, is a story of the Warrior-Queen Njinga Mbemba of Ndongo and Matamba. ‘Queen of Angola’ tells the riveting history of Angola and Njinga. It is an epic story of the quest of African Independence from European colonial rule.

The 40th anniversary celebration is under the theme, ‘Independence, Peace, National Unity and Development’. The event will bring together members of the diplomatic corps, Angolan nationals in Ghana as well as Ghanaians. 

Angola is making efforts to promote investment in Ghana. The country has recently approved a new investment law with the view to increase private foreign investment funding by approximately 10 billion Dollars in the next two years.

Angola celebrated its 40th National Independence on November 11, 2015. In completing 40 years of independence, this ephemeris, far from being just another festive date, is marked by transcendental importance as it represents a number of significant events.

These events include: the disruption from colonial rule and the role played by a group of fearless heroes who triumphantly gave their lives for the cause of the liberation of people, fighting the bondage, the racial segregation, the plundering of resources and abuses Angolans were subjected by the colonial administration.

The cocktail and movie screening of the movie Njinga (Queen of Angola) will be held at the National Theatre, Accra on November 20, 2015 at 6pm prompt.
