Asamoah Gyan: Andre Ayew Will Be A Great Leader

The Black Stars captain believes Andre Ayew will be his perfect successor to lead the team in the future. Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan claims Andre Ayew will be a great leader in the future with the Black Stars. Gyan, 29, has been dragging a nagging knee injury which has visibly affected his performance, with local reports suggesting an imminent retirement from international football. Former Ghana youth coach J.E Sarpong recently urged coach Avram Grant to prepare Gyan's successor. Andre Ayew is a great guy and tries to say what he believes will help, Gyan told Starr FM. His ideas are very reasonable. We work together and I think he will be a great leader in the future, Gyan said. Ayew underlined his leadership credentials when he guided Ghana U-20 team to defeat Brazil to win 2009 World Youth Championship in Egypt. Ayew's father, Abedi Ayew Pele captained Ghana for almost a decade before C.K Akunnor succeeded him following his retirement from international football.
