The Ghana international claims venturing into politics would afford him the opportunity to make a positive impact on more lives.

Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu says he will go into politics after hanging up his boots.

The 24-year-old Udinese man, who is widely known for his philanthropic works, is looking to join the likes of former Liberia and AC Milan striker George Weah in the political terrain.

“I will venture into politics 10 years from now - when I am done with active football,” Badu toldDaily Guide newspaper.

“I want to serve my people. Life is all about using your position to bless people God connects you to. I believe God raised me among the lot to give back to them.

“I started on a quiet note but looking back, I have realised God has placed me in a position to bless my people.”

A member of Ghana’s side that won the 2009 Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Egypt, Badu played for the Black Stars at the 2010, 2012, 2013, and 2015 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

He continued: “Politics affects everything we do. When done on a good note, the leader impacts the people positively.

“I see myself as member of parliament for my area 10 years from now. I am working towards that and I believe it shall come to pass.”

 
Having missed the 2010 World Cup due to injury, Badu was named in coach Kwesi Appiah’s 23-man squad for the 2014 edition in Brazil where Ghana exited at the group phase.
