Dont Resist Armed Robbers ASP Effia Tenge Tells School Children

As done every term, Morning Glory School had another Career Day programme that brought various professionals together to interact with pupils of the school to motivate them to work hard to become the professionals they desire to be.

The event, which saw the students dressed in the attires associated with their dream professions, witnessed the law enforcement class receive a talk from the Accra Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Effia Tenge, on armed robbery.

ASP Tenge started the sensitisation exercise by asking pupils if they had experienced armed robbery in their various homes before. Surprisingly, almost half of the class raised their hands, affirming that their homes were ever attacked.

Alarmed and shocked, the Accra Regional Police PRO told the pupils that in the case of armed robbery, they should inform their parents not to resist armed robbers, but rather comply with their demands.

“If you resist them, they get infuriated and may kill you without any cause; just lie flat on the floor and give them anything they ask for to save your lives,” she added.

According to her, almost a large percentage of armed robbers use drugs before they embark on such operations, hence the inhuman behaviour they exhibit when they attack people.

However, she told the kids to listen to the voice of the robbers and also take note of any features that they could give to the police later on to effect their arrests.

“Tell your parents not to go for their weapons if the armed robbers already break in, since sometimes the gun these robbers wield are fake and they may subdue your parents and take their guns away, which may power future attacks by such robbers.”

The Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer took her time to help the kids memorise the police emergency numbers, which they did impeccably.

After the talk, ASP Tenge told The Finder that a lot of unnecessary deaths can be avoided with such sensitisation campaigns on criminal activities.
