Aburihene Otubuor Gyan Kwasi (II) Laments Over Aburi Gardens

The acting President of Akuapem Traditional Council and also the Adontenghene of Akuapem and the Aburihene, Otubuor Gyan Kwasi (II) has expressed worry over the deplorable state of the Aburi Gardens.

He explained that the state of Aburi Gardens is not improving but rather detoriating ever since the Local Government Ministry took over.

Speaking to a section of the media at the Little Acre Hotel in Aburi after the Eastern Regional Tourism Awards organized by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), he said the work of Parks and Garden should rather be under the of Ministry of Tourism instead of the Local Government Ministry.

According to him, about eight (8) months ago cabinet approved that the Aburi Gardens be handed over to a Public Private Partnership (PPP) to renovate and put it into shape but up till now nothing has been done about it since the Local Government Ministry seem not to have interest in it, hence the delay.

“I have been to Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah then Local Government Minister and to the current sector Minister, Alhaji Collins Dauda…Aburi Gardens is deteriorating,” he cried.
