Kweku Kills His Own Brother

Residents of Adoagyiri Nsawam in the Eastern Region had a shock of their lives on Friday August 28 when a 40-year-old man, Kweku Oheme, allegedly murdered the former assembly member for the area, Anthony Serbah. The deceased, 57, was said to be Ohemes brother. The killer is nowhere to be found as police intensify their manhunt for him. Speaking to Daily Guide in their family house at Adoagyiri, Opanin Kwame Hemeng, a relative of the deceased, indicated that the two had earlier fought at the funeral of one Florence Boateng after Oheme interrupted a joke Serbah was narrating to a female friend. He said around 3:00pm when the funeral was over, the deceased stopped by a roasted corn vendors place to buy one since he was very hungry. He bought the corn, sat on one of the benches beside the seller to enjoy it when Oheme appeared from nowhere and attacked him from behind with a big stick. He hit him on the neck, killing him instantly. Opanin Hemeng said even after the deceased lay writhing on the ground, Oheme kicked him several times, probably to make sure his mission was accomplished. He said Serbah, who was unconscious, was rushed to the hospital but died on arrival. Kweku Oheme took to his heels after the act and has not been seen since, he lamented. The Nsawam Police, who confirmed the story, told Daily Guide that on the said day, Opanin Hemeng, accompanied by Ama Adjewaa and Okyeame Kofi Dae, came to lodge a complaint about the incident. According to the Station Officer, Chief Inspector Redeemer Kofi Kuma, a team of police personnel was dispatched to arrest the suspect but could not find him. Since then, all attempts to arrest the suspect have so far proved futile since no one seems to know his whereabouts. The body of the deceased has been sent to the Police Hospital for autopsy whilst the police continue to hunt for the suspect. The Chief Inspector appealed to the public to assist the police to find Oheme. Meanwhile, Daily Guide has learnt that the deceased incidentally had a misunderstanding with the suspect over who should take possession of their family house. According to a close source, Oheme recently had a fierce fight with his brother over the issue but they were separated. Oheme was said to have promised to deal with him if he did not move out of the family house.
