Wa Terror Jailed 10yrs

A 27-year-old man noted for terrorising and robbing residents of Wa and neighboring towns in the Upper West Region, has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. 

Fataw Yakubu pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbery when he was arraigned at the Wa High Court, presided over by Justice Kwasi Boakye.

Prosecuting, the Regional State Attorney, Abdul Shakur Saeed, said on November 11, this year, the complainant (name withheld) visited his wife at Ponyetanga and while returning, was attacked by the accused and two other accomplices between Boli and Lassie in the Wa West District.

They tied him with a rubber tube, sealed his mouth, dragged him into the bush and took away his Aloba Apsonic Motorbike with registration number BA 2889-12, three mobile phones, a travelling bag containing his personal effects, six pieces of Kente cloths and a cash sum of GH¢30.

However, a few minutes after the robbery, the complainant’s friend spotted the motorbike heading towards Balawa, a village in the same district.

The police were informed and Yakuba was arrested.

Upon investigations, he mentioned his accomplices as Yakubu Salin and Joe, both on the run.
