I Will Be A World Champion In Two Years

Michael ‘Ayittey Powers’ Okine says he will be a world cruiser weight champion in two years. Powers has been fighting since 2000 and he has a record of 21 wins (17 KOs), 24 losses and a draw but he is yet to win a major title with his closest attempt being a loss to Daniel Baff in 2013 when they fought for the vacant PABA Cruiser Weight and WBA Pan African cruiser weight in Australia.

Powers told Citi Sports in an interview that he is targeting a world title in two years.

“I am here to make a claim in the sport of boxing. I want people to expect the unexpected.

“Mark my words. I will be a world boxing champion in a year or two.”

The boxer is currently preparing to fight his rival Braimah “Bukom Banku” Kamoko on December 26 in Kumasi in a rematch of their “Judgement Night” bout from 2014.

He is confident of getting a win over Kamoko who dominated the first bout in 2014.

He is quoted by bukomboxingnews.com to have said: “This time Bukom Banku is not going to get it easy, I will make sure that I get my revenge. Even the prize at stake is also my target and I will be going all out come December 26.”

The bout has been put together by Livewire Events and Landmark Promotions and it is sponsored by Joy Dadi Bitters and supported by Black Avenue Sports, Bukom Boxing and Ako boxing.
