GFA Rubbishes Transparency International Report

The Ghana FA spokesman claims Transparency International findings have no basis and must not be taken seriously.

The communications director of Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has questioned a Transparency International report which listed the FA among the worst managed soccer governing bodies in the world.

According to the report, Ghana are among 87 poorly run football associations, recording a score of zero in all four categories of the Football Governance League Table comprising financial reports, organization charter, annual activity report and code of conducts/ethics.

“The research work done by Transparency International is erroneous,” Daara told Starr FM.

“The GFA has financial reports that were presented to members of Congress recently.

“We have a code of conduct and even an organization charter.

“Transparency International did not contact the Ghana FA for documentary evidence, so I am disappointed in their research because it lacks accuracy.”

Per the report, Egypt, South Africa and Botswana have the best managed football associations on the continent with a score 3, 2 and 2 respectively.

“Eighty one per cent of FAs have no financial records publicly available, 21 per cent of FAs have no websites, 85 per cent of FAs publish no activity accounts of what they do,” a section of the repot read.

The global anti-corruption body rated all 209 Fifa member football associations in a search conducted between October and November 2015.
