Dark skinned Ghanaian actress, Kafui Dzivenu, has ascribed her rare appearance on Ghana�s silver screens in recent times to hard work behind the scenes. The mother of two, who has been acting for the past decade, has since featured in a number of Twi and English movies. Not much, however, has been seen of her lately. Kafui revealed that she is still in the movie industry, except that she has been exploring different things. �I am now comfortable working behind the camera�, she said in an exclusive interview. Kafui now produces and directs movies. So far, she has managed to produce four personal movies and directed an uncountable number of them for Danfo BA Productions and Socrate Sarfo�s Movie Africa Productions. She has also written a good number of scripts for some movies. She penned scripts for movies like Sakawa Girls, �Sika Nti�, The Mask, Gold Mask, �Agyenkwa�, and �Boshebo�. She also wrote the script for the talked-about �Kyeiwaa� movies; from part 3 to 11. Of her producing, directing and writing roles, Kafui admitted that she finds solace in the latter. �I love writing. I started writing way back when I was in school. I can just take paper and start writing something. As the years go by, I take some of those write-ups and develop them. That is what has brought me this far. I can watch a movie today, see loopholes in it, re-write it and you will not notice that it is the same movie. I am proud to say that for the past three years I have written for Danfo BA and I didn�t have problems because I have my critics who always push me to do well. Somebody like Fadda Dickson of Peace Fm, after seeing movies I wrote, calls to say I should have done this or that. I should build the conflict this or that way. People like Fadda Dickson and Socrate Sarfo, who encouraged me, built me to this level�, she said. Kafui�s movie career began on stage with David Dontoh�s Kozikozi Drama Group. She moved to Vision Theatre, and then went on from there to TV series Small World. Afterwards, she met Socrate Sarfo and travelled with him and fellow actor, Nii Saka Brown to Togo for a production. She continued to work with National Theatre�s group �Eguguman� for five years. After several years however, she returned to Socrate who encouraged her to try directing and writing. She has grown bigger and better since then. Kafui�s first time on TV screens was in an election drama piece and subsequently in a NAFTI production where she played Hawa, a Kayayo. Kafui Dzivenu advised Ghana to watch out, as she is set to release her next movie.
