The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyi, has admitted that although he knew the Black Stars would eventually qualify for the 2010 World Cup, he �never anticipated an early qualification.� Ghana�s Black Stars were the first of five countries to qualify from the African preliminaries, and achieved it with two matches still to play. This was after they beat Sudan 2-0 in Accra on Sunday, to take an unassailable lead in their group. �I was very optimistic of Ghana�s qualification for both Angola and South Africa 2010, but was pleasantly surprised. I was not sure the victory would come yesterday, as I was anticipating a win for Mali in Cotonou,� he revealed in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on PEACEFM�s �Kokrokoo�. Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyi lauded the contributions of the entire FA, the playing body, technical team, the media, the government, as well as all stakeholders, who made it possible for Black Stars second successive qualification to the World Cup. The GFA President declared that the GFA will not relent on the success chalked but however, engage in activities which will reflect a positive performance from the Black Stars in Angola and South Africa 2010. With four matches played, the Black Stars of Ghana, has amassed all 12 points at stake. Their next two official matches, against Benin on 11th October, 2009, in Cotonou, and Mali in Kumasi, on 14th November, 2009, will be just mere formalities.
