Reported Errors In Textbooks Might Be The Cause of High Rate of JHS Failure - MP

NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Trobu Constituency in the Greater Accra Region and a member of the parliamentary select committee on Education, Hon. Moses Anim says the reported errors found in text books being used by Junior High Schools (JHS) across the country could be the reason for the high rate of failure amongst JHS pupils.

He was commenting on a release sent to the Education Ministry to withdraw some text books from schools across the country due to several grammatical and typographical errors identified.

Hon. Moses Anim advised teachers to try and teach students all topics in the syllables to prevent them from depending totally on text books which would be of great harm to their studies.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister in-charge of Pre-tertiary Education, Alex Kyeremeh says publishers (Setco Publishing Limited) of the error reading Integrated Science text books for JHS would be asked to re-print at their own cost should they be found culpable.

In an interview with Citi FM news, Hon. Alex Kyeremeh confirmed receipts of petition to withdraw these text books from schools.

He again indicated that, the Ministry has commenced an independent investigations into the matter and would punish those who would be found guilty to have acted negligently in approving these text books for schools.
