Driver remanded for possessing cocaine, Indian hemp

A circuit court in Asamankese, on Monday remanded Baba Yahaya Raji, a driver, for possession cocaine and Indian hemp without lawful authority. Raji, who pleaded not guilty, would re-appear at court on September 21. Police Chief Inspector Kate Ogyiri told the court that upon a tip-off, the Police at Asamankese on January 5 arrested Raji with 75 wrappers of whitish substance suspected to be cocaine and dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp at a ghetto in the town. Prosecution said during interrogation, Raji denied ownership of the drugs and when the exhibits were sent to the forensic crime laboratory in Accra for examination, they tested positive for cocaine and Indian hemp.
