Gyan�s Astroturf Project To Be Completed In April 2016

Asamoah Gyan’s Astroturf project for his former School Accra Academy will be completed in April next year,” GHANAsportsonline.com has revealed.
 
The Black Stars skipper on Thursday put axe to the ground for the commissioning of a new Astroturf for his Alma mater.

The project which is expected to begin in January will take three months to complete.

The facility will have a tartan track for Athletics, floodlights and seats for spectators.

A changing room and washrooms will also be provided to aid users of the edifice.

“We have everything in place, current we have imported the turf from Turkey which is on its way coming and as soon as it arrives we will begin the project,” Project coordinator  Roland Coleman disclosed during the sod cutting at the Accra Academy campus on Thursday.

“Work will begin in January and normally the construction takes three months to complete.”

Gyan, who is expected to join his teammates in China after the Christmas Break will return to officially open the facility after completion to commemorate the school’s 83rd anniversary celebration.

The former Sunderland attacker is funding the project with a tune of $18,000 (GHC 700,000).

The former Al Ain forward had initially presented a cheque for $30,000 to the Black Queens team for winning Gold at the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo.
