Ambassador Dealt A Terrible Political Blow

A businesswoman caused political upset in the Asante-Akim North parliamentary primary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), when she defeated Ghana’s Ambassador to Dubai, Mr. Daniel Osei, by a huge vote margin.

Madam Mary Awusi, polled 3,326 votes, to beat off the challenge by the ambassador, who garnered 770 votes.

She promised to work with everybody to deliver the seat to the NDC, come 2016.

She said it was important for all members, supporters and sympathizers to accept to work together and make the needed sacrifices to assure it of electoral victory.

She noted that with teamwork, unity of purpose and commitment, they could wrest the constituency seat from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr. Osei, a former District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, congratulated her and pledged to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with her to win next year’s general elections.

Nana Afrifa Yamoah was also elected the Party’s parliamentary candidate for the adjoining Asante-Akim Central Constituency.

He received 1,059 votes as against 519 polled by his only other challenger, Mr. Jude Atuahene.
