Kwamang Traditional Council honoured 18 citizens

The Chiefs and people of Kwamang in the Sekyere Central District of Ashanti Region at the weekend honoured 18 citizens of the town for their contributions towards the development of the town. The award winners included Mr. Yaw Adu Gyimah, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kwame Osei Prempeh, Member of Parliament for Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo constituency, Madam Faustina Acheampong, former first lady and wife of the late Mr. Kutu Acheampong, Dr. Clement Richard Berko, a medical doctor, and the late F.G. Asiamah. Speaking at the ceremony, Barimah Abayie Ntori-Nimpah II, Omanhene of the Kwamang Traditional Area, congratulated the people for the support and contributions to the development of the town before and during his 17 years on the throne. He said every citizen of the area deserves recognition for their contribution to the area�s development, and assured them that the yearly award ceremony would be institutionalized to cover more people in future. Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2008 Presidential election, who was the guest of honour, said education is the most important aspect of the nation�s development and stressed the need for the country to guarantee free education up to the senior high school level, to enable as many people as possible to attain higher education. He advised parents to enrol their children in school and support them to remain in school until they reach appreciable level. He donated GH�1000 to the Educational fund launched for the development of the local senior high school in the town. Mr Ebenezer Akuoko Frimpong, the District Chief Executive, appealed to the people in the area to live in unity and to support development projects in the district.
