A middle-aged woman in Kumasi, on Monday pleaded with a circuit court to incarcerate her recalcitrant son to stop him from harassing her.
Justice Adjei Frimpong, who presided over the court, asked the woman to re-think her decision to avoid the situation where she might come back later to plead for the release of his son, but she insisted that her mind was made up.
Paul Dwomoh, 25, who pleaded guilty to stealing his mother�s mobile phone worth GH�150 was convicted but sentence was deferred to September 21.
He was however remanded into prison custody.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Martin Assenso told the Court that, Madam Afia Bemah the mother of the accused and the complainant were not living in peace as a result of her son�s untoward behaviour towards her.
He said the accused at one time threatened to kill her mother.
Inspector Assenso said, at about 0800 hours on September 2, the complainant kept her phone in her room at Bremang where she lived with her son.
He said in her absence, Dwomoh sneaked into the room, picked the phone and sold it. Attempts by the mother to get the phone proved futile, compelling her to report the matter to the police.
Upon his arrest, he told the police that the phone was sold to one Boadi but could not lead the police to him.
After further investigation, he was charged and put before court.
