SIC SWAG Cup Match Attracts Big Shots

 The revived SIC SWAG Cup Match between Asante Kotoko and Obuasi Ashantigold last Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi, went into the records as one of the biggest in the history of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (Ghana).

The match, which saw Kotoko winning by a lone goal, courtesy Eric Donkor, was under the royal patronage of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene and officials from Manhyia as well as other sub chiefs.

The Asantehene, who performed the opening ceremony before the kick-off, invited goalkeeper Robert Dabuo of Ashgold to be in the post before initiating the kick which was easily dealt with by Dabuo.

Also at the Stadium, were the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye, Mr.Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Kwei Mensah Ashidam, Managing Director of SIC Insurance Limited and other high profile personalities.


Mr. Kwabena Yeboah, President of SWAG expressed appreciation to the personalities who graced the occasion.

He said their presence gives the Association the opportunity to further enhance the brand to attract more corporate sponsorship next year, adding that, the Assoiation is looking foward to making the event much bigger in the near future.
