Clergyman calls for peace at Bawku

The Reverend Otuo Acheampong, out-going Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has called on feuding factions at Bawku to bury their differences for peace to prevail in the area. He said conflict in whatever form was destructive to the nations development process. Rev. Acheampong was speaking on the topic: Be Strong, do not Fear, Have Faith in God, at a farewell and thanksgiving service held in his honour at the Bantama Payer Memorial Presbyterian Church in Kumasi on Sunday. He tasked politicians, opinion leaders and traditional authorities in the area to as a matter of urgency meet and brainstorm with the view to adopting what he described as road map for peace at Bawku. Rev Acheampong urged Christians to abide by the doctrines of the Church for their physical and spiritual growth. He also called on pastors, presbyters and catechists to maintain high moral standards and intensify evangelism to win more souls for Christ. Rev. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, incoming Chairperson, pledged to work hard to build on the achievements of Rev Acheampong towards the development of the Church.
