We Have Solution To The Energy Crisis

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in Sunyani, Professor Mrs Esi Awuah, has noted that the university is out with a technology capable of solving Ghana's energy crisis.

Professor Mrs Awuah revealed this at a Hydro Summit in Sunyani at a Hydropower Energy Conference organised by the Department of Energy and Environment Engineering of the University of Energy and Natural Resources at Sunyani in collaboration with the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Ibadan in Nigeria.

Professor Mrs Esi Awuah noted that the technological innovation in electrical energy developed by the University would take time to be accepted by all, though it has the capacity of solving the energy crisis in the country.

Professor Mrs Awuah said the African must prove and show that he is intelligent to solve its problems.

The conference was under the theme ‘Sustaining Hydropower Energy for Economic Growth and Development in West Africa’, so as to create a platform for experts, stakeholders and decision makers in energy use and development share and learn new techniques at solving key problems in hydropower plants across West Africa.

Delivering his message, Mr Olurapo Osasona, the acting High Commissioner of Nigeria, stated that the conference would be able to comb up the challenge and policies for the development of hydro potentials in West Africa as a whole, as well as formulate possible tactics for all the stakeholders that will make the sub-Sahara to look toward effective and sustaining hydropower energy for economic growth and the effect of global climatic change.

Chief Consultant and Managing Director of Enerwise Africa, Dr Joe Asamoah, described as unfortunate the activities of illegal mining on the Volta Lake.

The conference was attended by Dr Chuks Diji, Head of Department at the University of Ibadan; Dr Nana Derkyi, Head of Department of Energy and Environmental Engineering at UENR; Dr Joe Asamoah, Chief Consultant and Managing Director of Enerwise Africa; Dr Nana Diawuo, Dean of School of Engineering UENR.
