FULL STATEMENT: NPPs Response To 2016 Budget & NDCs Record

The running mate for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on Wednesday December 2, 2015, presented his party's response to the ruling governments 2016 budget statement.

Speaking from thepartys Headquarters in Accra, Dr Bawumia in a response titled The NPPs response to the 2016 budget statement, the seven-year record of the NDC and the alternative vision under an NPP government, compared the economy under the previous NPP government and the current NDC administration.

The former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana touched on corruption, agriculture hitting rock bottom and also assigned reasons why the current administration has failed to competently managed the economy.

According to him, for President Mahama to hit the roof simply because his administration has been labelled "incompetent"whilst ignoring the corruption means he has accepted that his government is corrupt.

...it is remarkable that His Excellency the president will complain about the use of the word incompetent.

Dr Bawumia also outlined several failed promises and policies by the Mahama-led government saying, They [NDC] are very competent at mismanaging the economy. This government is very competent at creating, looting and sharing. This government is very competent at propaganda. This government is very competent at perpetuating dumsor. Its very competent at increasing unemployment

...as a matter of record, we want to reiterate that not only do we say that this government is incompetent. We also said that the government is very corrupt but it looks like the president was only concerned at the incompetence bit and not the corruption bit for reasons that we are not yet been told.

This is an acceptance that he [president Mahama] has lost the fight against corruption, he mocked, addingMahama has created a toxic mixture of incompetence and corruption. This has resulted in an explosion of suffering across the country.

Touching on the current state of the Economy, the Vice-Presidential Candidate of the NPP asserted that the erratic power supply and failed economic policies of the NDC administration, have ratherdestroyed many lives.

Young graduates are unable to find jobs, people are unable to pay school fees for their wards, people are unable to pay hospital bills, businesses are collapsingmany lives have been destroyed, literally because of dumsor.

This economy has rather been deformed and not transformed (lives)," he said.
